Chocolate Milk: Feel The Need

New Orleans-based Chocolate Milk are one of my favorite bands of all time. I discovered them back in 1981 when they had a super funky album out called "Blue Jeans". It was produced by none other than my house God; the Bar-Kays' own Allen A. Jones. The album contained such monsters as "Honey Bun", "Video Queen " and "Blue Jeans" and it was the start of a love affair with Chocolate Milk that last to this day. I own all their albums, and with a few exceptions, they are all splendid. This song is from their third LP, entitled "Comin'", issued in 1976. It didn't go anywhere on the charts, only one single charted ("Comin') and it peaked at disappointing # 56 on Billboard's R&B chart in late 1976. The self titled predecessor, which also was produced by music legend Allen Toussaint, didn't fare much better on the 7" dept., but the LP reached #18 on the Billboard album charts in 1976. It was in the charts for nine weeks. Both albums are really good. The band had a promising debut with "Action Speaks Louder Than Words" (#15 R&B) in 1975, but it wasn't until 1978 and "Girl Callin'" from the, in my humble view, rather uninteresting "We're All In This Together" LP that the band once again had a major hit. There is plenty of information on the band on the web. I found a lot of interesting stuff on this fellow Chocolate Milk fan's site: chocolatemilk.outofprintsoulandfunk.com Wikipedia Bio: Chocolate Milk was formed in 1974 in Memphis, Tennessee by saxophonist Amadee Castenell, Jr ...
